Every so often I take a phone call from a patient who needs a receipt. The patient needs one so they can claim the money from their health cash plan.
For example, patient visits a physiotherapist and pays for their treatment. With a receipt, he can claim the fee back from their Health Cash plan provider. Alternatively, the patient is insured but outpatient appointments are not covered under their policy.
So what are Health Cash Plans?
Health Cash Plans are designed to ease the financial burden of having such regular health checks.
They are NOT the same as a private medical insurance policy.
So why are they relevant to the consultant surgeon?
Well, sometimes the patient’s insurance cover does NOT include outpatient appointments. The patient has paid for them but requires a receipt so they may claim the cost from the Health Cash Plan provider,
Thus it is important to understand what a Health Cash Plan is and how it may complement a private medical insurance policy.
